Assassinated by one of his own guards, Salman Taseer faced an ill-fated death back in 2011. Under criticism for his comments on the blasphemy law, Mumtaz Qadri, later hailed as an Islamic Hero, shot the deceased a total of 27 times with an AK-47 rifle near his home in Sector F-6, Islamabad. Five years later, the murderer was hanged after a verdict from the Anti Terror Court.

At this time, six years after his death, Salman Taseer’s family is in turmoil over the alleged ownership of his business and inheritance. Mr. Taseer was married twice. He is survived by his widow and three siblings from each of his wives. A renowned businessman, Salman Taseer owned News Channel Business Plus and was the publisher of English News Paper Daily Times.

According to Sara Taseer, step sibling Sheheryar unlawfully obtained the ownership of their father’s media company. She also blamed her step mother to be in on this matter.

She called on to the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to address the matter of the illegal transfer of ownership from Salman Taseer to Sheheryar Taseer.

Twitter was prompt on supporting Sara after legitimate claims she made under the hashtag #SaraDeservesJustice and #CorruptSheheryarTaseer.

Sheheryar Taseer and his mother remained quiet on the issue and no response can be seen as of yet.
